David DeCastro, OG Stanford Scouting Report

David DeCastro, OG Stanford [HT-6’5 WT-315]

Positives- David is a big framed mauling type of Guard…In pass protection, he is a firm and quick anchor who reacts faster than most every other defender he faces…David has Elite level field vision and can recognize blitzers and stunts…David is technically sound in pass protection and can keep all defenders in front of him, in most cases stone/stop  them at the line…David excels in rushing situations…He can gain leverage over any defender he faces and can move them from the rushing lane…David is strong and with his vision, can hit the second and third level with “ease” …David is an Elite competitor and never takes a play off and gives it his all on the field, in film study, and the weight room…Has a mean streak and is not afraid to get a head on a head.

Negatives- While David hits the second level easily, he has slow feet and on certain plays, he can under run the linebacker…He doesn’t have an overpowering punch and against larger Nose Tackles, he will get over matched and powered…Has a weaker core than one would like with all of his weigh room successes.
